Agastyarkoodam


Agastyarkoodam Peak is a spectacular peak in the Western Ghats that rises to a majestic height of about 1868 m in the form of a sharp cone. It is accessible only on foot, with 61 km of trekking from Bonacaud, and 32 km from Neyyar Dam. Women are not allowed up the peak

Pythal Mala

The enchanting hill station, situated near the Kerala-Karnataka border, is rich in flora and fauna.
It is a 6 km trek to the top of the hills. This beautiful, calm hill station, 65Km from Kannur is at an altitude of 4500 ft. above sea level.

Pothamedu (6 km from Munnar):


Pothamedu offers a superb view of the tea, coffee and cardamom plantations in Munnar. The rolling hills, the lush mountain and the breathtaking scenery here, are perfect for trekking and long mountain walks.

Attukal (9 km from Munnar):

A panorama of waterfalls and rolling hills, Attukal, located between Munnar and Pallivasal, is a feast for the eye. The place is also idyllic for long treks.

Nyayamakad (10 km from Munnar):


Located between Munnar and Rajamala, Nyayamakad is a land of magnificent waterfalls. The waters surge down a hill from a height of about 1600 meters. The captivating surroundings make an excellent picnic spot and trekking point

Wildlife


Periyar Tiger Reserve

This is one of the most prominent regions on the high ranges of the Western Ghats. One of the world's most charming natural wildlife sanctuaries, the Periyar reserve is noted for its geomorphology, varied wildlife and gorgeous scenery.

Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary

The only one of its kind in Kerala, this sanctuary was designed by Dr. Salim Ali, the distinguished ornithologist. He is reported to have identified 167 bird species and his student - Dr. Sugathan, 207. The Thattekkad bird sanctuary attracts nature lovers from all over the world.

Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary

Established in 1973, the Wayanad wildlife sanctuary is adjacent to the protected area network of Nagarahole and Bandipur of Karnataka and Mudumalai of Tamil Nadu. Rich in biodiversity, the sanctuary is a central part of the Nilgiri biosphere reserve, which was established with the precise intention of preserving the biological legacy of the region.

Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary

Situated in the rain shadow region of the Western Ghats, the sanctuary occupies the forested region on either side of the Marayoor - Udumalped road. This is the second habitat of the endangered giant grizzled squirrel of India. The location of the sanctuary offers the unique advantage of watching its fascinating wildlife at close quarters from the road without venturing deep into the jungle.

Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary:

Spread over the Thodupuzha and Udumpanchola taluks of Idukki district, the sanctuary was formed in 1976. The Idukki arch dam, the first major hydroelectric project in Kerala, is located here. The 33 sq.km scenic lake around the sanctuary - the Idukki reservoir - is fashioned by the three dams Cheruthoni, Idukki and Kulamavu.
